Pupil Leadership
To see our children grow in confidence and develop skills which will set them up for great success, we advocate for children to be involved in pupil leadership opportunities. This includes responsibilities in the classroom, and adhoc opportunities across the school including within our daily collective worship.
Additionally, we oversee multiple pupil leadership groups, encouraging and providing opportunities for children of all ages - all are given the opportunity to lead and develop in this way.
Our pupil leaderships groups include:
- School Council - Made up of representatives from each class across the school and voted in by their peers, this group of children are involved in bringing the pupil voice to the running of the school. See below.
- The Shine Team - Made up of children who attend Shine Club, these children from across the school support and lead our daily collective worship including by reading prayers and welcoming the children.
- Head Boys and Girls - Made up of four Year 6 children for the full year, the children apply and are interviewed by the Headteacher for this position. Those selected support the Headteacher in various ways across the school year including leading tours of prospective parents, communicating with classes, and taking the lead on initiatives such as overseeing pupil-led clubs.
- House Captains - Made up of Year 6 children, this is a role held for a term and involves being the leader of their house, counting up weekly house points and leading an aspect of celebration assembly.
- Sports Leaders - Made up of children across Year 5 & 6, these children are seen as role models in sportsmanship and highly skilled. They support in the leadership of PE lessons across the school each week, attend sporting events as coaches of the team, and give out certificates in celebration assemblies.
- Pupil Led Clubs - All children in Key Stage Two are invited to lead a club for children across the school. Children plan each session, and commit to being there each week with their high-viz jacket on (!) ready to support the play and inspiration of their peers. At last count, 34 clubs are being led by more than 70 children.

Leadership Area In Focus: School Council
The School Council's role is to promote and develop the school's vision and values. One child is elected from each class to sit on the School Council and to attend meetings with the Deputy Headteacher, Miss Type. The School Council looks at ways in which they can make our school even better. They recently did a survey in their classes to find out how they learn best.
They all take their role very seriously and as the term progresses they all have gained so much more confidence that they initiate topics for future discussions.
Their role is to report back to their own individual classes and bring back to the Council any issues which have been raised by their peers and to also help decide upon future actions and plans for their school.
